PacificBase Dynamics
PacificBase Dynamics, is an analytical platform of integrated products and services providing comprehensive and bilingual information on Japanese equities.
PacificBase Dynamics’ end-user applications have been designed and developed to be used as stand-alone solutions to accomplish specific needs, or as an integrated group of analytical components to solve and automate more complex tasks. All end-user applications have been developed in .NET, are fully integrated with MS Excel, are bilingual, and include building tools which enable end users to tailor and maintain their applications and information content feeds. All applications can draw content from any or all of the three databases included in PacificBase Dynamics back-end, namely: unadjusted, “as reported” data series; 3-month quarterly adjusted data series and calculated data series. In turn, end-user worksheets may be created where all this content can be still further custom-tailored and standardized to generate specific analytical models and metrics.
DynaSolver
Designed for single-company analysis. This application includes all the fundamental and market data from PacificBase Dynamics for a selected company and allows the end user to design, develop, and maintain analytical models and related financial graphics at the single-company level. DynaSolver workbooks are grouped by sector into 6 different types to cover Banks, Insurance, Non-financials, Miscellaneous Finance, Securities, and REITs. In addition, we provide a Non-Financials Analytical Template (which may be used as a starter model), that includes all intermediate calculation worksheets unlocked, so that end users may edit them for their own purposes.
DynaGrid
Designed for multi-company analysis. This application may be used to design, develop, and maintain models for portfolio, peer, sector, index, and market analysis. End-user-defined calculated data series may also be created and maintained, including the ability to create metrics across all industry sectors with a single formula or just single-sector-based metrics.
DynaTracker
Designed for multi-company analysis on the behavior and magnitude of management guidance data series. This application draws initial forecast and all forecast revisions content from a stand-alone, integrated forecast data series back-end. Data series are available from 2008 and include both performance- and dividend-related forecasts.
DynaScreen
Designed for top-level screening and data mining of all data series within PacificBase Dynamics according to a number of pre-defined financial ratios, fundamentals, and company-level demographics. Screened list of companies may be saved and used by other applications for further analysis.

Analytical Engine
PDCalc has been designed to integrate and automate the operations involved in the creation, calculation, and maintenance of financial- and market-related models and their associated metrics.
This industrial strength analytical engine, developed in .NET and SQL Server, is tightly integrated with the fundamentals and market data series included in the PacificBase Dynamics’ (PBD) back-end. However, in-house (e.g., analysts’ forecasts) and third-party data series (e.g., intraday market data) may also be combined with PBD’s data series to create additional metrics.
Moreover, PDCalc may be used as middleware between the underlying content and PBD’s, or proprietary end-user applications. These processes may be further automated by using PDCalc’s batch module.
The PDCalc Analytical Engine includes an easy-to-use and powerful analytical editor which can be used to create, calculate, and maintain both standard and proprietary metrics. The editor includes the following features:
- The ability to create metrics across all industry sectors with a single formula (e.g., Return on Equity ratio for all TOPIX companies). By contrast, single sector based metrics may also be created (e.g., Return on Equity ratio for all Non-Financial Companies within TOPIX)
- The ability to set, on a per variable basis, precise raw data (i.e., how to treat Null values within a given formula), calculation (e.g., division by zero values) and output conditions (e.g., whether negative results are calculated, or set to zero or Null values) to customize and control data manipulation and results
- The ability to create formulas for the following types of data series: Latest, 3-Month Quarterly, Interim, Annual and Trailing-Twelve-Months (TTM)
- The ability to create, maintain and run infinite number of company and metric portfolios. This function may be also automated by using PDCalc’s batch module
